The Commercial art series is a series of paintings which aim to lampoon commercial art, or art made specifically to be sold.
The main rules of the series is the paintings need to be of marketable things painted only using a black outline, have watered down acrylic paint splashed on the canvas and finally a for sale sign nailed to the canvas.
I began by doing one on porn, or "sex", this was really where i tested to see if it would turn out okay and it actually turned out to be the best in the series. the gold paint sparkles, the outline of a lady performing oral sex on some man was actually really detailed.
The second work was about controversy and was actually was worse than i hoped for, the red splatter is too suggestive when combined with the image of Muhammad the Islamic prophet, but luckily most people think it looks like Jesus, so it is Jesus.
The third was of a bag of sugar, this was done because people love sugar.
The forth was of tom cruise, this is probably the worst out of all of them, i used a very low quality video and a not so good clip of him.
The fifth is of a faux inspirational quote, something that makes you go "hmm" when really its just some literal statement of "if it happens, it happens".
