Digital Task Gifs

So im not too sure why gifs are... a thing for this, i mean i get it, it is a handy skill to learn but trying to understand its relevancy in art is a bit of a stretch, as gifs are often associated with internet culture and memes.

The first gif i made was of alex jones from a clip i had downloaded for digital media. i began by cutting his eyes out and creating false eyes on a layer underneath so it looked like his eyes were behind his face, which worked really well, i followed the instruction to do a black background and move his mouth down, then i cut him out of the background and was able to move him independently of the background which provided it with a little more movement. I felt something more was needed so one of his famous catch phrases is about the frogs being turned gay by chemicals in the water so i added text and placed it behind him, i played with the gradient of the text to make it rainbow (ie. LGBT) and then at the end of the gif the letters G A Y in increasingly darker read (to indicate anger) appear and then it loops infinitely. I shared this gif online and has since been re-posted a few times.

For the second gif i really didn't know what to do so i just drew a mountain and some clouds and made them move across the sky, then i drew a bird and a tree and then made that move around then i drew a city and then a suburb-scape and did the same. I could have refined the drawings on this work, but i wanted it to look childlike, innocent, something bright and colourful. it too loops infinitely.

For the third gif i wanted to do something completely different, something mature and something which aligns more to my usual art style, hypnotic and convoluted. I started by painting lines randomly, i then animated a white spiral spinning with a transparent background. I then multiplied this many many times, but it wasn't that easy, because each of the spirals needed to be animated separately, this was very time intensive and took many many hours to do. I also decided to black out the space between the spirals, in hindsight i should have also made the spirals black. I have included the first draft and what i would call the completed gif, i was going to go one more size up, but the amount of work needed and the projected outcome wasn't worth it.
